When our oldest daughter first brought over Milly, we were pleased with her good nature and lovable personality. Two unique things stood out: her speed with running and turning, and her cautious approach to food. I’ll maybe cover her deft ability with speed later.
Milly is the first dog I’ve met that is cautious with food. When I say cautious, her approach toward food is almost like a piece of food nipped at her nose sometime in the past, traumatizing her.
It takes her a long time to actually put food in her mouth. Take Zoe’s canned cheese treat as an example. We keep this same can of cheese as an occasional treat for good behavior. It is surprising this can has lasted so long, as my granddogter’s have excellent behavior.
I decided to offer a canned cheese treat to Milly a while back. This dog is a mess.
Milly normally bounces right up to me, especially if play time is involved with her rope toy. Yet, when I am holding a treat of canned cheese ready for her to sample, she is so slow and cautious, I have to keep coaxing her just to get her nose near the treat.
What you see in this meme’s photo, is a dog who is careful about wanting to sample the food. She walks up slowly and pauses, almost as if she is in trouble. Then looks at it careful through the one eye. She stands there, literally stands there for almost a full minute just slowly moving her nose toward it, not sure if the food is going to bite back at her or jump at her.
This was an easy photo to take. She just stood there, watchful and discrete, being cautious with her approach to some good smelling edible yummy stuff. I couldn’t help but marvel at Milly’s circumspect attitude to delicious human food.
Haha… maybe she just doesn’t like that cheese😜 It’s cheese out of a can😏 Love the picture ❤ love your granddogthers ❤
